Grande Dunes Resort Course is one of Founders Group International’s crown jewels, delivering a public golf experience that is among the best in all of South Carolina.
The Roger Rulewich design features five holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway, providing the type of coastal scenery golfers flock to Myrtle Beach to enjoy. While Grande Dunes has been ranked among the Grand Strand’s premier golf courses since its opening in 2001, a recent renovation has ensured it will remain among South Carolina’s best for years to come.
FGI commissioned a comprehensive greens, bunkers and clubhouse renovation project in summer of 2022 that has been greeted by rave reviews.
Architect John Harvey, who worked with Rulewich on the original design and construction of the layout, led a project that restored the course’s greens to their original size and specifications, an effort that expanded Grande Dunes’ putting surfaces by more than 33 percent. The enlarged greens mean more pinnable locations and even better conditions due to an increased ability to manage traffic.
Every bunker on the course was overhauled and Capillary Concrete Bunker Liners were installed, significantly enhancing the playability and conditioning of the traps. The overhaul of the clubhouse, which included the expansion of the pro shop and opening of Terrazza 19, a new onsite restaurant, was no less dramatic.
With six sets of tees, Grande Dunes, which is renowned for its sweeping fairways and large, undulating greens, is playable for golfers of all skill levels.
On a course full of breathtaking views, the par 3 14th stands out. Playing from an elevated tee box to a green that resides along the Intracoastal Waterway, No. 14 is on the shortlist of the best par 3s in all of the Palmetto State.
Holes 8, 9, 10 and 15 also bring the waterway into play, but the inland holes at Grande Dunes are just as strong, challenging players to hit a variety of shots and rewarding imagination.
“From the time you pull up to drop your clubs off, the staff couldn’t be friendlier. Course is kept in incredible condition and is very challenging. Definitely booking here again on my next trip down.”

“Immaculate. Difficult but playable. Very good instructors on site. Nice bar! One of the nicest courses in the area, even if less known. Highly recommend!”
