Since 1927, Pine Lakes Country Club has been a favorite of Myrtle Beach golfers. Nestled in the heart of Myrtle Beach, the graceful Southern architecture of the Clubhouse symbolizes the deeply rooted history and tradition of the Grand Strand.
Pine Lakes was originally built upon natural dunes less than a half mile from the ocean and featured numerous freshwater lakes and rolling fairways. Designed by architect Robert White, the first president of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of America and a co-founder of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Pine Lakes has surpassed its initial glory after a complete restoration.
After an extensive renovation to the golf course and clubhouse, you can now experience the Granddaddy as it was in the spirit of the 1920s. The back nine reflects White’s original design and the front nine was renovated to enhance the elegant experience golfers from around the world associate with Pine Lakes Country Club.
“Played a morning round on late June vacation with my 13 year old son. My son knows his way around a golf course and plays faster than most adults, but it’s always a question mark as to how the course staff will react when I walk up for an early tee time with him. The folks at Pine Lakes were very accommodating and respectful. Clubhouse and grounds upon first approach were awesome. Just a great, classic looking club. Conditioning on holes around clubhouse looked fantastic – couldn’t wait to get out. Got paired up with two gentleman (a man and his adult son) from NC. They were great players and very cool to play with that morning.
Course was in fantastic shape all the way around. Greens were tricky – excellent condition but tricky to putt. Fairways were excellent. Course is very playable but not easy, necessarily. Accessible and playable by all levels, but not repetitive. Water on a number of holes, playable sand bunkers, etc..
All in all, a great experience. We had a lot of potential choices to play and we were very glad we chose Pine Lakes and got paired up with the group we played with. Son ended up with his best score to date and broke 90 for the first time ever, so that was a plus!”
